PLEASE NOTE: This monthly email message was written the day prior to the horrific happening at our nation’s capitol on January 6th, and therefore does not address it. However, as the content of this message suggests, prayers and inner work is called for on our part, added to appropriate steps called for by mature leadership in Washington so that this never happens again.
I’ve heard it said of late, these are interesting times, unusual times, difficult times, frightening times, challenging times, and other descriptive adjectives. Every era of time has its highs and lows. And regardless of what time we are in, the spiritual goal is to realize and demonstrate that the power that lives within us is greater than any circumstances of the times. There is the outer world and the inner world. The outer can drown out the inner if we let it.
Our attention has been pulled outward with all that has been focused on recent elections, politics, and the pandemic, among other things, that are part of daily life. I’m here as your friend to remind you, just as I remind myself, that during “these times”, it remains very important to find the time…to create the time, for a continued commitment to quiet times, times in the silence, meditation times, prayer times, and time for other steps toward personal growth and a deepening spiritual awareness. If you haven’t established any of these disciplines, perhaps “It’s about time.” If you have fallen away from them and are guided to get back, perhaps “It’s about time.” In this way, I believe you are assured there will also be “good times” whereby love, peace, fun, and joy make it into the mix of life’s experiences.
I keep asking myself what I can learn and strengthen in me during these times. I have had much come into my awareness…judgments and perceptions…that call for release and replacement. We all have thoughts and emotions which arise and call for release rather than repetition. It’s an ongoing process that we are in. However, never stop loving yourself or others around you, for we are in this experience together. We are here to learn from each other.
